Abstract
The volume presents the abstracts of the contributions presented at the 4th International Conference on Microplastic Pollution in the Mediterranean Sea (MED 2025), held in Ischia (NA), Italy. The topics of the contributions include: a) the analysis of micro- and nanoplastics, encompassing monitoring approaches, sources, environmental distribution, fate, ecological effects, and their role in the adsorption and transport of pollutants; b) the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable solutions for the mitigation and the remediation of plastic pollution; c) the study of the impacts of micro- and nanoplastics on organisms and ecosystems, including their accumulation and transfer to the food chain; d) the effects of micro- and nanoplastics on human health, including their interactions with biomolecules, cellular uptake, biodisposition, exposure and risk analysis; e) environmental and health policies, public awareness and perceptions, socio-economic and environmental impact.
