Abstract

The reasons for the new economic and financial centrality of the city of Naples (and therefore of its Business District) cannot be understood without a brief reference to the urban developments that invested Naples from the second half of the 19th century. The grandeur of railway architecture had almost taken over as a symbol of economic and social progress of the city, a grandeur strongly linked to the recent Borbonic past.
