Abstract

A precision test of lepton flavour universality by measurement of the helicity suppressed ratio RK = Γ(K+ → e+ν)/Γ(K+ → μ+ν) was performed by the NA62 Collaboration at CERN using a dedicated data sample collected in 2007. The result of the analysis based on 59963 K+ → e+ν candidates with 8.8% background contamination is RK = (2.487 ± 0.013) × 10−5 and is consistent with the prediction of the Standard Model.
