Abstract
Few-body correlations and clustering have to be taken into account to describe the properties of low-density, low-temperature nuclear systems. A systematic, self-consistent description of clustering is obtained from a quantum statistical approach. The quasiparticle picture is introduced, the role of continuum correlations is discussed, and consequences for the nuclear matter equation of state are shown.
