Abstract
The new technologies developed in recent years have allowed a personalized use of cultural heritage according to new standards. Feedback, geo-location, advanced services and multi-functional information capture visitor needs in real time. The importance of innovation, also seen as a new support for tourism development of the territories, is translated through ICT that facilitate the use of the territory and become, at the same time, a system of informal networks of communication between population and territory. Among the various initiatives put in place by the European Commission, in this direction, should be counted "European Capital of Smart Tourism - ECoST": the initiative illustrated in this paper.
