Abstract
The Medieval Medical recipe book as a full textual genre have been just lately revalued, thus finally allowing us to distinguish it from others products of the medical knowledge of Middle Ages and to define its main subtypes. In the light of the most recent studies, this contribution analyses the second Medical receptary included in ms. 215 of the Classense Library of Ravenna. The aim is to highligh the peculiarities and offer a reflection on the main categories that have been proposed so far for this specific genre. Therefore, the medical recipe book will be placed in comparison with two others receptaries, both assignables, according to Cifuentes’ classification, to two different categories: the domestical medical recipe book included in the Memoriale of Francesco Bentaccordi (ms. 1 F 54, Archives départementales de Vaucluse), edited by Brambilla & Hayez, and the professional medical recipe book, currently unpublished and included as well in ms. 215, Classense Library of Ravenna, on folios 16r-66v.
