Abstract

NUSES is a pathfinder project for innovative satellite-borne particle detectors dedicated to the study of cosmic radiation, astrophysical neutrinos, Sun-Earth environment, space weather and magnetosphere-ionosphere-lithosphere coupling. The satellite will host two payloads, named ZIR´ E and TERZINA. The ZIR´ E instrument will measure the fluxes of low-energy cosmic-ray protons, light nuclei, electrons, positrons and gamma rays with energies up to a few hundreds of MeV. TERZINA will test innovative techniques for the detection of astrophysical neutrino signals, looking at the Cherenkov light produced by the extensive air showers generated in the atmosphere. In the following, scientific objectives and features of the NUSES project will be presented.
