Abstract

Indications to ribs excision and reconstruction of resultant defect for primary or metastatic chest wall tumors are unusual. Since 2002 to 2009 we performed 5 chest wall resections for primary or metastatic chest wall tumors with immediate reconstruction. To reconstruct the chest wall we used Judet’s agraphes in 4 cases and a novel titanium rib bridge system in the latter. A Gore-Tex mesh, for chest wall’s deep layer replace, was also used in everyone. Immediate good functional and aesthetic results justfy our approach to reconstruction that tend to maintain the ability of the thoracic cage to move in unison and to reduce paradoxical movements. The purpose of the movie is showing our reconstruction technique with titanium rib bridge system in a young girl affected by G. Goltz syndrome an infrequent multisystemic disease due to a genetic alteration. The aggressive biological behaviour of the tumor and the unusual clinical feature represent the main patholocic aspects related to the case under consideration.
