Abstract
The advantages of high-altitude ground-based cosmic ray stations have been discussed in many past reports and conferences. It is very satisfying to observe this renewed attention to the research potentials of the Chacaltaya Laboratory. Specific research opportunities are reviewed, and possible future scenarios are noted.
