Abstract
This paper aims to analyse the musical scene depicted on the metope repre-senting the Delian Triad with Apollo playing a particular string instrument. Therepresentation might be related to the god epiphany and to his return from theland of the Hyperboreans. The scene seems to evoke the role of Apollo Ar-chegetes (“the founder”) in Selinous and the musical performances in thiswestern Greek polis
