Abstract
The direct observation and characterization of gravitational waves from binary black-hole mergers by LIGO is a testament to the crucial role played by waveform modeling in these discoveries. I will review recent developments in the field, discussing both numerical and analytical approaches to the problem of black-hole binaries and their gravitational-wave emission.
