Abstract

Patellofemoral disorders can be classified according to specific criteria, and the most well-known classification systems are Insall’s classification and Merchant’s classification. In this work, after completion of an in-depth literature review, we will analyze the most frequent patello - femoral pathologies with the aim of determining the correct clinical-diagnostic-therapeutic course. Pathologies of greater clinical frequency will be examined in detail to provide the most relevant didactic scope. We will therefore address the following pathologies: excessive lateral patellar compression syndrome; patellar dislocations and subluxations; patellar chondromalacia; and patellofemoral osteoarthritis.
